Peter Callesen

Peter Callesen is a Danish artist that makes unbelievably intricate paper cut sculptures. It's truly unreal. The precision and detail that he is able to capture makes me feel like a gorilla.

NONE MORE BLACK

It's the blackest you can get. It's like, how much blacker can you be? And that answer is none. None more black.
Read about the new blackest material on earth!

A National Institute of Standards and Technology reflectance standard (left), a sample of the new darkest material (center), and a piece of glassy carbon (right), taken under a flash light illumination are seen in an undated handout photo. U.S. researchers said on Tuesday they have made the darkest material on Earth, a substance so black it absorbs more than 99.9 percent of light. (Reuters)

Laura Levine

The latest artist on 20x200, Laura Levine! This one's called 'Birds of the Pacific Northwest', and there's plenty of the 8.5" x 11" prints left!
Nice.

Swindle Magazine

I just picked up my first issue of Swindle, an arts magazine that I hadn't heard of before but thought it looked cool. Weirdly enough, it was! Created by Shepard Fairey? Joel Speasmaker of VA fame as a comics editor? Yeah, I'd say it's cool.
Featured in this issue is an article about Dalek, who is awesome. If you see one, you should definitely pick it up. So awesome.

Here's some pictures that I took at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. a few months ago. I like octopii.

the age of mammals

I just joined del.icio.us, and my mind is blown. This totally bizarro site will keep me occupied for the next 1000 years, I think.
Incidentally, it is snowing.

Maxwell Holyoke-Hirsch

Weirdly enough, I'm working at Quirk today while Kathy and Katie are at the LA gift show! Our new shop show is Maxwell Holyoke-Hirsch (who you might remember from Tiny Showcase), a young San Francisco artist with great prints. This one's "Knotted and Dense". Good times.

currently listening to that whistling song

Back due to popular demand! Thanks Annie!
I'm currently stuck on listening to Peter, Bjorn, and John's "Writer's Block" CD. I definitely don't think I'm alone on that one.
Anyway, back to serious stuff. DUNNYS. This little gem by Tara McPherson, should be arriving on my doorstep any day now! Now my 8" Dandy dunny will have a new friend!
