Damon Soule- wow. I remember seeing his stuff on kidrobot awhile back, and I stumbled across it again today. Why have I become obsessed with toys and fantasy novels? Really. But who couldn't with stuff like this?

Caitie Sellers
Caitie Sellers is a Richmond local who's jewelry really blew me away at MasterQuirks, a 3 day art/craft fair at Quirk! We showcased 15 local artists who sold their goods in the main gallery to the public. Anyway, Caitie has a ton of really great stuff, and she's a new grad from VCU!

halligan norris
At Quirk (where I am in my last week!) we just got a shipment in from Halligan Norris, a really great jewelry maker who is soon-to-be-based in Philadelphia. She has a great one-of-a-kind line and also production work that is really amazing, with old-timey stitchings and tchotchkes.

Fecal Face
Fecal Face just released a how-to on train hopping. They say it's the not the end all be all guide, but it's pretty effing interesting and informative, with plenty of awesome pictures and tips.
It also makes me want to quit everything and just travel!

blueflip art
WOW! Blueflipart.com is pretty much the same thing as Tiny Showcase (in terms of cheap prints with charitable contributions), but they have a wider variety of prints (as far as sizes, prices, and availability go).
Either site, it's a win-win. Before the day is done I MUST make this print by Victoria Maderna MINE!

new blog
Little Paper Planes is a new find off of D*S (duh). It's amazing and has a surprising amount of work for sale, all at very reasonable prices! Like I needed something else to occupy my time with!!!
They also have a blog that is worth a little look-see. Here is one of their artists Brendan Monroe, who has so much cool stuff I am just sickened. Really.

first friday at quirk
As some of you may know, I've been working on an illustration exhibition at Quirk for about a year and a half. Tables to Walls will feature 9 of the best illustrators from around the world. Go to Quirk on Friday, Sept. 7 from 6-10 pm for the First Friday opening! Seriously though, if you're my friend you'll go.
And if you're worried you might forget, don't you fret. I'll be updating this again and again so you'll have no excuses!

back to the grind
first day back at work after vacation! a tough time for anyone, to be sure. to cope with my thrust back into productive society, i've taken the time to introduce you all to my workspace here at quirk.
so this is the back office:
this is the desk that at any point in time you can find either maggie or i tirelessly working for the greater good of the artistic community:
this is the board that we put important, and sometimes silly, things on over our desk. also a clock:
this is diana's desk. she faces us:
this is what kathy sees when she peeks at us from behind her wall:
this is the cacophony known as katie's desk. i know it's pretty much the same picture:
these are kathy's dogs. one is shaped like a potato:
this is my terrarium. it's pretty much terrarium madness here at quirk.
he is just too cute for words:
that's pretty much it. we like a lot of stuff here.

BIG NEWS
So a lot of you might know that I've been working on an illustration exhibition at Quirk that opens in September. Well, September is right around the corner and things are finally coming together for it.
We have such an amazing list of participating artists, like John Foster, Gary Kelley, Anita Kunz, Patricia Martin-Nelson, Joe Morse, Tim O'Brien, Roberto Parada, Tifenn Python, and Greg Swearingen.
"Tables to Walls" will be a fantastic show, if I do say so myself, so keep Friday, September 7 open, and plan on coming to First Friday! More info to come.

new blog to check out
I stumbled on Sara Antionette Martin's blog Beastie Weenies, and especially liked her Delectable Monsters! Another selling point is that she works for Kid Robot- maker of the Dunnys! Her Mobile Munny (pictured below) is pretty amazing. So check out her site and prepare to fall in in love.
One day I think I might get in trouble for taking these pictures without asking... but I'm really just trying to expand creative horizons and introduce people to new, exciting things! So please, understand that I only have the purest of intentions!

this is right up my alley
not a lot of people know that i am a mustache enthusiast. i mean, what else could explain my passionate love for the dandy dunny? fecalface has come up with a contest that proves that mustaches are not dead!
check it here.
check it here.
Morrissey, Morrissey, Morrissey!
How do I begin to describe the awesome power that is Morrissey? And how was I able to see him twice in a week when I've been waiting years? Both shows were completely amazing and perfect. Amber has tons of great photos and videos, including the one where Timmy kisses Morrissey during "How Soon is Now?" How he was able to get away with that, I'll never know.
PHOTO CRED: AMBER! (Do you think I could have taken such a glorious picture?)

new look
to anyone who actually reads this (which i think may be no one?) i re-vamped the page a little. this here is a print i just bought off of tiny showcase, which i think i've mentioned before. a glorious little diddy of a website that brings little prints each week to the public with a charity receiving the profits from sales. this one happens to be by justin b. williams, a fellow blogger!

fun stuff.
Heide Trepanier had a show in Richmond this past year, and I fell in love with her vibrant, bright paintings and swirls of color. Her site is high res flash, so it might take a minute to load, but it's well worth the wait.
